Hosting of EU Common Training Module in the War Colleges

From Monday 31 March to Friday 4 April 2025, the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College (HSJWC) in collaboration with the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) hosted the EU Common Training Module in the War Colleges under the auspices of European Security & Defence College (ESDC).

The objective of the module was to provide participants with a mutual, comprehensive and structured understanding of the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

A total of 288 Officers from all across Europe, Cyprus (30), France (2), Greece (243), France (3) and Romania (13) participated in the course.

The training focused on key aspects of the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy, including its principles, institutional architecture, decision-making procedures, crisis management mechanisms, and operational engagements. It reflected the strong synergy between military and academic institutions and contributed meaningfully to the cultivation of a shared European strategic culture.

Distinguished academics and Spokesmen from Greece and EU countries delivered lectures.

The course was successfully completed and all participants received the required certification.

For the record, this was the very first EU course ever organized on this subject, marking a historic milestone in the development of Common Security and Defence Policy training at the European level.
