The Hellenic Supreme Joint War College in cooperation with the European Security and Defense College (ESDC) organized the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) Orientation Course of the European Union in Thessaloniki (multi-purpose hall of the War Museum).
The objective of the course was to provide students with an introductory understanding of the European Security and Defense Policy.
A total of 58 Officers from all across Europe, Belgium (1), Czech Republic (4), Denmark (2), France (3), Germany (4), Greece (30), Ireland (1), Italy (2), Malta (1), Poland (2), Portugal (1), Spain (6) and Sweden (1) were trained at the course.
The training focused on issues related to the Common European Security and Defense Policy with a particular emphasis on Crisis Management, Peace Support Operations (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, IRINI, ATALANTA, etc.), the European Defense Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB) and their development prospects.
Distinguished academics and Spokesmen from Greece and EU countries delivered lectures.
The course was successfully completed and all participants received the required certification.
For the record, the first EU course on this subject was organized in Brussels in 2003 on the initiative of the Greek representatives.
